DOWCO Dowco is a specialized manufacturer of covers for products in the markets for recreational marine and power sports; boats, motorbikes, cars etc. The covers are distributed worldwide to several of the top brands within these markets. Their customers expect high quality covers to protect their investments. Therefore it is very important to have a demand driven production that can measure up to the customer’s requirements. We are very happy with the results the system has helped us achieve as well as the co-operation with Eton and the support we get, says Charles Webster, CEO of Dowco as he shares his experience of Eton. In 1997 the first Eton 2002 system was installed at Dowco’s factory in Manitowoc, Wisconsin USA. It was done to improve the manufacturing process of motorbike covers for brands like Harley Davidson, Honda and Suzuki. The result with this first system was very good so we kept asking about a system that could handle our production of boat covers. In 1999 Dowco became the first Eton 4000 customer of size. Eton did an excellent job, ahead of schedule and on budget. Our lead times for boat covers used to be 4-6 weeks. Very quickly it was down to 14 days and continued to drop and today our lead-time is 4 days. It is a very good result, even if our customers are spoiled and now want even quicker service.
