IACIAC Automotive Interior Systems is a global leader in cockpit modules and automotive floor and acoustic systems and a leading supplier of instrument panels, automotive fabric, plastic-based trim, and convertible top systems. Approved by Volvo Cars for Eton use IAC have integrated an Eton system in the manufacturing process of injection-molded products for the Volvo S80, in the factory in Skara, Sweden. Our experience with the Eton system is genially positive. The reason for the initial investment was to optimize the use of the injection molding machines. We needed to improve the material handling following the injection-molded process. The trimming operation is no longer dependant on the speed of the molding process. In order to optimize our total efficiency we wanted the molding machine to run the entire time during shift changes, lunch breaks etc. For 5 years the Eton system has been integrated in our manufacturing process. The injection-molded products are loaded on to the system through the assistance of a robot. Without any human intervention, they are transported and stored in a buffer area underneath the ceiling. This has been a very good solution in many ways. We have an automated process that doesnt depend on the operator being present the whole time and still maintain maximum output. The elevation philosophy of the system helps us to utilize our floor space. All in all the system has helped us to optimize our manufacturing process. Mats Gustafson, IAC, Skara, Sweden |
